An approval for setting up the new casino, namely “The Boardwalk” on Biloxi’s Back Bay was given by the Mississippi Gaming Commission. The site was declared as legal on Thursday, during the commission’s meeting. Chris Ferrara, the property owner said that architectural designs would be got approved by the gaming commission for the 10th casino in Biloxi and the 13th on Mississippi coast. The officials of the new casino would explore possibilities for the investors for making the old Heinz pet food building into a first rate world level resort. Ferrara while commenting about the funding exclaimed that it is an important aspect and we are the owners of the facility. So, we are optimistic about that. He added that it is good news indeed for Boardwalk that would become a reputed facility. It would turnout to be a fifty thousand square feet gaming floor and one lac square foot convention center, providing enough space for more activities in a convenient manner.
Jerry St. Pe’ the chairman of the Gaming Commission expressed that he is quite impressed with the developments so far. He said it is really very good news for Biloxi and the Gulf Coast too in terms of gaming activities. He said that the new project would pave the way for more jobs and revenues too.
Total estimated cost of the casino and other amenities may touch around $150 million according to the company officials. However, many other formalities and various permits are to be got approved by the gaming commission before the work starts.
